About Oning

Oning sells dried and preserved botanicals: eucalyptus for a shower arm, lavender and baby’s breath by the bundle, petal confetti by the handful, and willow branches for a tall vase. 22 of them are available right now, arranged into 3 families by the plant rather than by the occasion.

Why the whole table is on one page

Twenty two bundles do not need a category tree. The front page carries the entire catalogue in three plates, and the longer explanations live in the journal. If you know which plant you want, the front page is the whole site.

The claims we will not repeat

Photographs in this category carry printed promises: promotes sleep, purifies the air, relieves stress, refreshes the mind. Some of those photographs are ours. We do not write any of it out in text, because the National Institutes of Health says plainly that little rigorous research has been done on whether aromatherapy helps with insomnia, and that in one study neither lavender nor lemon affected stress indicators at all.

We also print the inconvenient half. Eucalyptus and lavender are both listed as toxic to cats, dogs and horses. Rose is not. That comparison sits on the front page rather than in a footnote, because a catalogue that hides it is a catalogue that hopes you do not have a cat.

What we do not claim

We do not print a founding year, a farm, a field or a team of named people, because we would be inventing them. We do not claim certifications: where one exists it belongs on the product with a certificate number, not in a paragraph on a website.

Where the buying happens

We do not take payment, hold stock or ship parcels. Our buttons hand you to checkout with our retail partner, and delivery and returns are handled there. What we do is describe what we sell as accurately as we can and keep the figures current: see how we update.
